My Year of Prakash Raj

Some people spend a year
cooking Julia Child's recipes, or following all of the rules in the Bible, or reading books by people who spent a year doing something. My quest is to watch the 200-some films of South Indian character-actor-extraordinaire, Prakash Raj. (It'll probably take more than a year... and I'll post about some Prakash-less films here as well.)

It's My (Prakash Raj's New Game) Show!

Look what popped up in my google alerts for Prakash Raj!
Sify.com: Prakash Raj debuts as host on TVNational award winning actor Prakash Raj is all set to debut on Telugu satellite television as a game-show host with "ITS MY SHOW".  Prakash Raj`s versatility knows no boundaries and he needs no introduction to people in South India with matchless performances in many films, in different languages, Prakash Raj brings in all his talents and stamps "ITS MY SHOW" with his own charm, style and finesse. Set to be launched on Ugadi, the Telugu New Year, Prakash Raj acknowledges "ITS MY SHOW" as his long overdue gift to Telugu audiences the world over. Simple in concept and easy to follow the show fuses a universally popular game with celebrity guests and combines humor with simplicity into a power packed one hour television game show. Every guest on the show has excelled in their chosen field. Some of the guests on the show include, Tanikella Bharani, Shekar Kammula, Krish, Jayaprakash Narayan, Gunnam Gangaraju, Nandini Reddy, Mirchi Hemanth, RaNa, Nani, Rajamouli the sarpanch of a model village Gangadevipalli, Ravichander a noted lawyer and A.Gudapati noted educationist.  With participants drawn from all walks of life across Andhra Pradesh, "ITS MY SHOW" is designed to bring to the fore the free-flowing, inimitable style of Prakash Raj and he makes full use of the show format to keep the guests, participants and audiences hooked to the show.

When I read this, the wheels in my brain began to spin. What kind of game show would it be? Could it be something crazy and physical like Wipeout? I'd love to hear Prakash Raj commenting snarkily as people slide off of giant spinning platforms and bounce off of giant red balls.

Then cinefundas.com  posted these photos:

OK, looks like it's inside, and there are podiums. The description above talks about all of the guests. Maybe it'll be a Telugu version of Match Game! Bring on the stick microphone and the double entendres!  Or Family Feud--Prakash Raj would be great at flirting with all of the ladies, just like Richard Dawson.

And then I found this video teaser from Maa TV:

OK, so the music and lights are giving off a sort of standard "Millionaire" kind of vibe.
Do the x-sqaure-circle reference another game show or common game?

Whatever it is, I know I'll be watching it on youtube, and shouting "no whammies" at the screen.

  1. I love that you have a google alert for Prakash Raj! That's actually a brilliant idea- I should do that for some of the rare things I'm always on the lookout for. I'm also digging Prakash's jeans-n-suit-jacket combo. :D
