Vikramarkudu (Telugu, 2006)
Role Type: Prakash Cop
The story: A small time thief, Athili Sathi Babu (Ravi Teja) falls in love with Neeraja (Anushka Shetty) while he's running a scam at her family's wedding. Later. Athili accidentally "kidnaps" young girl who thinks that he is her father. The girl is the daughter of Police Officer Vikram Singh Rathore (Ravi Teja again). Rathore has been battling the Chambal dacoits, and has sustained mortal injuries. Athili pretends to be Rathore and returns to the Chambal Valley to deliver justice to the evil-doers.
Movie Rating: 3.75/5 This is a pretty crazy, frenetic, and fun movie. Ravi Teja is funny as Athili and appropriately kickass as Rathore. Anushka is cute, and Ajay hams it up as one of the villains. (I wish I knew who the actor was who played the son of the main dacoit, he was pretty crazy-scary.) That said, the storyline was a little disjointed at times and not Rajamouli's most coherent effort, although Dammare Damma is a total earworm, and a really fun picturization.

Prakash Raj Rating: 2/5 Prakash Raj plays Vikram Singh Rathore's police supervisor/chief. He has an agreement not to bother the dacoits, until Rathore shows up and ruins everything. This character seems to exist only so that Rathore can give a speech explaining his philosophy on life and policing.
Favorite Prakash Raj Scenes: The chief goes to the parade ground with the goal of frightening/talking some sense into Rathore, but instead Rathore gives an inspirational speech about how he is a dedicate policeman and plans to fight the rowdies until his last breath. The chief is incredibly moved by this speech, and never appears again.
Giggling rowdies are the worst kind of rowdies. |
"Vikram Singh Rathore, I salute you.... Can I get paid now?" |
Admit it, Liz, this post was just an excuse to indulge in making screen caps of Prakash garu in a police uniform, wasn't it? :D
ReplyDeleteAnd for that reason, I heart it :)
Well, that's a possibility ;-) As soon as I catch up on my 2009 movies, I'm going to do some photo essays on Prakash in various costumes, cop, lungi, sunglasses, etc.
